When unloading, a distance of one meter between the forwarder and the pile is best.
It is important that there is a distance of about 5 to 6 meters between the forwarder and the pile.
Positioning the forwarder on the side slope while unloading is very convenient.
Select the WRONG rule for grappling wood!
If you unload short wood you must grapple it at a point close to you
If you do not hit the desired grappling point then immediatly put the bundle back on the load and change the grappling point.
When you build a pile along a road and unload while standing on the forest side it is important that the wood hangs towards the street when you grapple it.
What is important when you have so much wood in the grapple that its arms do not reach around all the wood?
Use the close grapple function until the moment you place the wood onto the pile.
Use the rotate function until the moment you place the wood on the pile. Due to the gal force, there is no risk to drop the whole bundle.
You can drop the bundle from about 3 meters onto the pile.
Select the right piling rules! Watch out, sometimes several solutions are correct!
Use branches for the bottom layer of the pile!
Never pile wood against trees!
No branches allowed under the pile!
Use side slopes with a steep angle for building a pile. It is very convenient for the operator.
Remove snow that has fallen on a wood pile.
Building piles in small brooks is good for wood conservation.
Moves when unloading on the road...
must always be backward.
can be backward when you have a good rear safety camera.
must always be forward.
Rules for building a pile. Select the WRONG one.
When no pulpwood log or sawlog sticks out more than a stated distance, the pile is even.
Normally the maximum permitted height of the pile, from the road surface to the highest point, is 4,5 meters.
It is a common practice that pulpwood and saw logs are piled together. With this practise a lot of money and time can be saved.
Rules for building a pile. Select the WRONG one.
The maximum permitted divergence per linear meter is 10 decimeters.
When you build up the bottom layer, you should also extend the length of the pile sufficently before starting to build up the height.
It is possible to build a pile end support to minimize the risk that wood falls down the pile.
What is important when you build up a pile with wood longer than "normal". Watch out, sometimes several solutions are correct!
The longer logs have to be sorted out and piled separately.
Long and short logs can always piled together for saving piling place.
When you pile very long logs the pile has to be built up and flattened very well, with a very even front.
Select the right sorting rules!
All kind of wood rot or nonrot can be piled together
Sawlogs that have rolled into the pulpwood pile are removed and placed on the sawlog pile.
It is not necessary to build a flattened site in a sawlog pile.
Sawlogs/pulpwood logs that are difficult to classify are put aside for discussion.
Why it is so important that the rotted wood is sorted out from other logs?
Because the rotten wood is much more expensive than the sawlogs.
Because rotten wood hase much more branches than normal.
Because the rotted volume is usually deducted from the number of cubic meters that the contractor is paid for.
